Dear Parents & Guardians,

Thank you for all those parents and students participating actively in our school community.
Due to your ongoing support events like the Halloween Dance on Thursday, as well as our Pillars of Care Assembly make Beddington Heights School a great place for learning.

In the subject areas:

Math:
Students are working on Mathletics and have personalized accounts with assigned tasks.
In class we will work on the program approximately once per week. Some of the work
should be done at home as homework. I have assigned 7-9 specific tasks (involving the four basic operations - addition - subtraction - multiplication and division) to students in Room 15.
These tasks need to be completed by the end of November.

Science:
In Science we reviewed the process of photosynthesis in class and learnt that humans and other animals are called heterotrophs whereas plants are considered autotrophs (= they produce their own food).

LA:
In our writing unit we began to research synonyms for overused and unspecific words, such as
'said, old, new, went, bad, sad.' Students will create a tombstone for each word and find suitable synonyms to take over their place in future writing activities. This will tie into our descriptive writing activities and help generate more interesting vocabulary for our stories.

REMINDERS:
> Photo order forms were sent home today
> Monday Oct. 30 & Tuesday 31: swimming at Thornhill Pool / bring swim gear to school
> Tuesday Oct. 31 is Black and Orange day at BHS
> Wednesday: Selected Gr. 6 students will participate in the We-Day field trip (bus leaves at 7:55am)
